Horizon Family Update

February 2, 2026

Mission & Vision

Vision: Horizon Middle School is committed to preparing all students to be college and career ready.

Mission: Horizon Middle School strives to support all students by helping them grow and develop their critical thinking, their confidence, and their creativity

Principal Updates

COLD WEATHER ALERT:
Students will be permitted to wear warm clothes over their school uniform. Please encourage your child to dress warmly as they will have to transition to classes throughout the day.

With Valentine's Day approaching, please be mindful we do not allow students to walk around with large gifts or balloons. All gifts must fit into a backpack or they will be held for the day.

While we want to encourage our students to build friendships, Valentine's Day is a normal day in middle school. Learning still continues.
Please do not send class treats or supplies as there will not be class "parties".

Grade Recovery: If your child does not have a 60% or higher in Math, ELA, Science, or Social Studies, he or she is in danger of being retained. Your child will be enrolled in a Progress Learning Course to help them complete grade recovery. At this time, there will not be Summer Grade Recovery, therefore it is important they start grade recovery now.

Tutoring will begin on Tuesdays and Thursdays on 2/17 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

Thank you for your cooperation.
