Extra Curricular Clubs

Clubs meet before or after school on designated days. Some clubs may have a fee associated with membership.

  • The Battle of the Books club meets regularly to practice for the Osceola County Battle of the Books Competition.  Students read the SSYRA book list each year and participate in a quiz bowl challenge against other middle schoolers. 

  • National Beta is dedicated to leading by serving others. The Beta community recognizes high academic achievement, rewards and nurtures worthy character, fosters leadership skills, and encourages service to others.

    Being a Beta means being a part of a community of leaders who are positively impacting the world. Students who participate in BETA club at Horizon have the opportunity to compete in various arts and academic categories at the State and National levels. 

    There is a $30.00 fee to join this club and will participate in fundraising to attend the State and National Competitions. 

  • The yearbook club meets to plan and create the school yearbook.  Students are responsible for taking pictures at events, planning layout designs and working with their sponsor to create the theme for the yearbook each year. 

  • The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national non-profit career and technical student organization (CTSO) of middle and high school students engaged in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Today, over 300,000 students participate in TSA’s competitions, intracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, and community service. 

    There is a $30.00 fee to join this club and will participate in fundraising to attend the State and National Competitions. 

  • The YMCA is our after school program.  Students can participate in homework help, gaming, athletics, and more. This is a free program, but students must sign up for the YMCA program.
