What is AVID?
 

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college, career, and other post-secondary opportunities. AVID Student Profile:

* 2.0 - 3.5 GPA
* Highly Motivated
* Average Test Scores
* Demonstrates Great Citizenship in and out of the Classroom
* May be First Generation in Family to Attend College
* Able to Work Well w/ Others

AVID students will sign an AVID Student Agreement indicating their commitment to the program and to their success. The initial commitment is one year. Students are highly encouraged to continue in AVID as they progress through Middle School and throughout High School. According to research studies, students experience the best results after being in the class for at least three years. AVID students usually choose to stay in AVID until they graduate from High School.

Applying for AVID:
All students interested in applying must complete and submit the AVID student application and be interviewed by AVID staff to be considered for possible selection.
