Dear Horizon Middle School Families,
At Horizon Middle School, student safety, accountability, and maximizing instructional time remain our highest priorities. As part of our ongoing efforts to create a safe and positive learning environment, we will be implementing the Navigate360 Digital Hall Pass system.
Across the country, schools are increasingly adopting digital hall pass solutions as part of broader school safety and climate initiatives. Traditional paper passes often provide limited oversight and documentation. The Navigate360 Hall Pass system allows us to better monitor student movement throughout the school day while reducing disruptions to learning.
What are the benefits?
✅ Less Unsupervised Time
Students spend less time out of class, ensuring they are where they need to be and engaged in instruction. Staff members have real-time visibility into student movement throughout the building.
✅ Fewer Behavior Concerns
Digital hall passes help reduce hallway loitering, unauthorized student gatherings, and incidents that may occur in shared spaces, including bathrooms. Many schools have reported reductions in issues such as vaping, fighting, and other disciplinary concerns.
✅ Clear Documentation
The system maintains accurate records of student movement, providing important documentation that supports student safety, disciplinary follow-up when necessary, and individualized student support.
✅ Aligned with PBIS and MTSS
Navigate360 complements our existing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) frameworks by promoting consistency, accountability, and positive decision-making across the school.
What should families know?
Students will request and receive passes electronically through their school devices. The process is simple, efficient, and designed to minimize classroom interruptions. Our goal is not to restrict student movement, but rather to ensure that movement throughout the campus is safe, appropriate, and accountable. Currently students are permitted 3 passes per day for restroom or water breaks. The passes are timed and track how long students are out of the classroom (losing instructional time).
We believe this system will help us maintain a safe and orderly learning environment while maximizing valuable instructional time for all students.
We are starting the roll out with 8th grade students and will begin adding 7th and 6th grade in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to provide the best possible educational experience for every student.
Have a wonderful week!
Go Eagles!
